STILL, IT’S THE WHAT?

As looms threads of a 500th by half,
Independence yarns can be quilted anew,
From the strong stand to liberate -
From the bold and brave ideologic -
From equality written first under Lord’s Laws;
The spun for Liberty at 250th -
Ours but a semi-quincentennial,
Of red, white, and blue whole cloth,
Our standards still wave - even long frayed;
We upturned divine rule by titled as monarchs,
We localized the Lord’s providence;
And, now by the 4th the 250th,
We behooved to be of our WHAT -
More than a fancy of our WHO.
