STILL, IT’S THE WHAT?
As looms threads of a 500th by half,
Independence yarns can be quilted anew,
From the strong stand to liberate –
From the bold and brave ideologic –
From equality writ 1st under Lord’s Laws –
The spun for Liberty at 250th
Ours but a semi-quincentennial,
Of red, white, and blue whole cloth,
Of standards still wave – even long frayed,
We upturned divine rule – titled monarchs,
We localized the Lord’s providence,
And, now by the 4th the 250th,
We behooved to be of our WHAT –
More than a fancies of our WHO.
